There was an upset when 3rd placed Bendigo Braves (9-8) were defeated at home by seventh ranked Frankston Blues (5-12) 97-85 on Saturday. American forward Alex Francis (198-91, college: Bryant, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) stepped up and scored 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Nate Buss (206-92, college: N.Iowa) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Five Frankston Blues players scored in double figures. American power forward CJ Aiken (206-90, college: St.Joseph's) responded with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds and point guard Adam Doyle (176-91) scored 16 points and 6 assists. Frankston Blues maintains seventh place in League with 5-12 record. Loser Bendigo Braves keep the third position with eight games lost. Frankston Blues will face higher ranked Tigers (#6) in Melbourne in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bendigo Braves will play on the road against Dandenong Rangers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
