Regular Season Round 17: Sandringham S. - Nunawading S. 96-93

A very interesting game took place in Cheltenham. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of leader Spectres (13-4) to fifth ranked Sabres (7-9) 96-93 on Saturday evening. Strangely Spectres outrebounded Sabres 37-25 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. American forward Jerry Evans (203-90, college: Nevada) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Ethan ODay (206, college: Vermont) contributed with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Simon Conn (206-83, college: Gardner-Webb) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds and American center Dain Swetalla (206-86, college: Augustana, IL) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Spectres. Five Spectres players scored in double figures. Sabres maintains fifth place in League with 7-9 record. Spectres at the other side still keep top position with four games lost. Sabres' next round opponent will be Bandits (#5) in Albury. Spectres will play on the road against Canberra Gunners (#7) in Belconnen and hope to win that game.
