Very expected game in Greensborough where 9th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (5-11) were defeated by second ranked Waverley Falcons (13-4) 100-90 on Sunday. Waverley Falcons looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Diamond Valley Eagles were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Desmond Simmons (198-92, college: St.Mary's, CA) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and forward Chris Arkell (198-90) chipped in 24 points. American guard Raanthony Sanders (190, college: Pensacola JC) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the other American import forward Brandon Conley (198, college: ORU) scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Diamond Valley Eagles' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Waverley Falcons keep a position of League leader. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles keep the ninth place with 11 games lost. Waverley Falcons will face Whittlesea City (#12) in Mill Park in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Diamond Valley Eagles will play against Casey C. and hope to win that game.
