Regular Season Round 8: Cordon - Tabare 60-64

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Cordon (4-3) against sixth ranked Tabare (4-3) on Monday night. Host Cordon was defeated by Tabare in a tough game in Montevideo 60-64. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Cordon. Cordon was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 18-11 third quarter run of Tabare. Strangely Cordon outrebounded Tabare 47-35 including 35 on the defensive glass. Cordon was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by forward Agustin Cabillon (196-95) who scored that evening 17 points and 6 rebounds and guard Rodrigo Xavier (184-95) supported him with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Tabare's coach Carlos Barrios allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 9 points and 19 rebounds by forward Agustin Zuvich (200-95) did not help to save the game for Cordon. Guard Luca Magnone (187-97) added 14 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Four Cordon players scored in double figures. Tabare moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Cordon and 25 de Agosto. Tabare will play against Stockolmo (#7) in Montevideo in the next round. Cordon will play on the road against the league's leader Sayago and hopes to get back on the winning track.
