Regular Season Round 8: Atenas - Sayago 84-87

The most exciting game of round 8 in the Ascenso took place in Montevideo. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of second-ranked Atenas (6-2) to top-ranked Sayago (7-0) 87-84 in the game for the first place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Atenas. Sayago looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Paul Harrison (203-89, college: N.Greenville) who helped to win the game recording 37 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and guard Martin Perdomo (181-95) who added 16 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals during the contest. Mateo Pose (190-95) responded with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Fausto Pomoli (198-94) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Four Sayago and five Atenas players scored in double figures. Sayago have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-0 record. Atenas at the other side keep the second place with two games lost. Sayago are looking forward to face Cordon (#5) in Montevideo in the next round. Atenas' supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Marne.
