Regular Season Round 16: Perry Lakes H. - Perth R. 77-72

Date: June 30, 2017
Very expected game in Floreat where 8th ranked Redbacks (7-10) were defeated by second ranked Hawks (16-1) 77-72 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Hawks outrebounded Redbacks 55-34 including a 21-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international power forward Natalie Burton (194-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 20 rebounds and guard Lauren Jeffers (170-88) who added 17 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals during the contest. At the losing side American forward Emilee Harmon (188, college: Ohio St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Adrienne Johnson (182-89, college: Louisiana Tech) scored 23 points and 5 steals. Redbacks' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Hawks maintains second position in League with 16-1 record having just eleven point less than leader Brisbane S. Loser Redbacks dropped to the seventh place with ten games lost. Hawks will face Suns (#10) in Kalamunda in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Redbacks will play at home against Senators and hope to win that game.
