Regular Season Round 18: Hume City - Ringwood H. 79-111

There was no surprise in Tullamarine where 10th ranked Hume City Broncos (5-12) were crushed by third ranked Ringwood Hawks (13-4) 111-79 on Saturday. Ringwood Hawks dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Hume City Broncos' 38. They outrebounded Hume City Broncos 53-25 including a 37-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ringwood Hawks looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Hume City Broncos' players. The best player for the winners was American guard Jacob Gibson (198-93, college: Harding) who scored 29 points and 6 rebounds. The other American import forward Mike McCahey (196, college: St.Anselm) chipped in 25 points and 6 rebounds. Five Ringwood Hawks players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized British guard Lee Jeka (193-83) who recorded 28 points and 5 assists and J O'Rieley added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Ringwood Hawks maintains third position in League with 13-4 record having just nine point less than leader Mackay M. Loser Hume City Broncos keep the tenth place with 12 games lost. Ringwood Hawks will face Magic (#8) in Hawthorn in the next round where they are favorite. Hume City Broncos will play at home against Eltham Wildcats and hope to win that game.
