Regular Season Round 18: SW Slammers - Rockingham F. 92-62

No shocking result in a game in Bunbury where sixth ranked Slammers (11-6) smashed 10th ranked Flames (8-13) 92-62 on Saturday. Slammers dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Flames' 32. They outrebounded Flames 48-32 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Flames were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (198-92, college: Vermont, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 26 rebounds. American guard Tre Nichols (180-89, college: Boise St., agency: SDJ Sports) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Four Slammers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Vincent Zollo (206-92, college: Cleveland St.) who recorded 16 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Donovon Jack (206-93, college: Penn St.) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Slammers maintains sixth position in League with 11-6 record. Loser Flames keep the tenth place with 13 games lost. Slammers will face Lightning (#9) in North Lake in the next round. Flames will play on the road against Eagles in Morley and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
