Rather predictable result in Pasadena where sixth ranked Sturt Sabres (8-6) outscored 10th ranked Eastern Mavericks (1-12) 102-74 on Saturday. Sturt Sabres dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Eastern Mavericks' 32. Sturt Sabres had a 30-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Sturt Sabres especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Eastern Mavericks' players. The best player for the winners was forward Jacob Rigoni (198-98) who scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. The former international power forward Claybrin McMath (203-90, college: Bryant) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. Four Sturt Sabres players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Devon Mcgee who recorded 20 points and 7 rebounds and Sebastian Vozzo added 17 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sturt Sabres maintains sixth position in League with 8-6 record. Loser Eastern Mavericks keep the tenth place with 12 games lost. Sturt Sabres will face Woodville Warriors (#8) in Flinders Park in the next round. Eastern Mavericks will play at home against Norwood Flames and hope to win that game.
