There was a small surprise in Cheltenham where fifth ranked Sabres (8-9) outleveled 5th ranked Bandits (8-10) 110-83 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 110-83. Sabres looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Igor Hadziomerovic (193-92, college: Boise St.) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Jerry Evans (203-90, college: Nevada) chipped in 23 points and 9 rebounds. Five Sabres players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Deba George (183-85) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists and American forward TJ Robinson (203-89, college: Long Beach St.) added 21 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Sabres moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Bandits keep the fifth position with ten games lost. Sabres will face Frankston Blues (#7) in Seaford in the next round. Bandits will play at home against NW Tasmania Thunder and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
