There was a minor upset in Runcorn where 6th ranked South West Metro Pirates (5-5) were edged by ninth ranked Rockhampton Rockets (5-7) 90-87 on Saturday. Rockhampton Rockets dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to South West Metro Pirates' 46 and made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Chris Fowler (185-93, college: Cent.Michigan) who scored 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Power forward Rashad Hassan (203-89, college: Savannah St.) chipped in 32 points and 8 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was forward Tanner McGrew (203-93, college: W.Virg.Wesl., agency: Duran International) who recorded a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and guard Jeremy Kendle (186-88, college: Bellarmine) added 22 points and 7 assists respectively. South West Metro Pirates' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Rockhampton Rockets maintains ninth position in League with 5-7 record. Loser South West Metro Pirates keep the sixth place with five games lost. Rockhampton Rockets will face higher ranked Sunshine CR (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
