Regular Season Round 18: Hornsby S. - Maitland M. 94-93

Date: July 1, 2017
A very interesting game took place in Hornsby. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 3rd ranked Maitland Mustangs (9-7) to fifth ranked Spiders (10-7) 94-93 on Saturday evening. Strangely Maitland Mustangs outrebounded Spiders 49-35 including 21 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Joshua Chapman notched a double-double by scoring 27 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Scottish guard Patrick Emery (185, college: Coker) supported him with 24 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 30 points and 18 rebounds by American forward Tyler Monroe (201, college: Azusa Pacific) did not help to save the game for Maitland Mustangs. Jack Edwards added 18 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Five Maitland Mustangs players scored in double figures. Spiders moved-up to fourth place in League. Maitland Mustangs at the other side dropped to the sixth position with seven games lost. Spiders' next round opponent will be Hills Hornets (#7) in Baulkham Hills. Maitland Mustangs will play against Hawks and hope to win that game.
