There was no surprise in Bullcreek where 6th ranked Wanneroo (9-10) was defeated by fourth ranked Lightning (12-5) 81-77 on Sunday. Lightning made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Ali Schwagmeyer (180-90, college: Quincy) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import forward Sydnee Fipps (178, college: Cal-Davis) who added 26 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Klara Wischer (185-91, college: San Diego) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Ellyce Ironmonger (193-89, college: Oregon) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Wanneroo players scored in double figures. Lightning maintains fourth position in League with 12-5 record. Loser Wanneroo keeps the sixth place with ten games lost. Lightning will face Slammers (#9) in Bunbury in the next round where they are favorite. Wanneroo will play on the road against Redbacks in Northbridge and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
