Regular Season Round 18: Willetton T. - Geraldton B. 95-94

Round 18 in State League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Willetton where host Tigers (17-3) edged league's leader Buccaneers (17-3) 95-94 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the top position in League. Tigers outrebounded Buccaneers 47-29 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 20 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). The other American import swingman Jay Bowie (196-92, college: Marist) chipped in 23 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Tigers' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Jackson Hussey (190-92, college: Pikeville) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 14 assists and American forward Maurice Barrow (196-92, college: Fairfield) added 27 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Tigers keep a position of League leader. Buccaneers will play next round against Magic trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Tigers will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Slammers in Bunbury.
