Regular Season Round 20: Sabios - Cimarrones 73-67

The most important game in the last round took place in Manizales between third ranked Cimarrones (9-7) and fifth ranked Sabios (9-11) on Sunday night. Cimarrones were defeated by Sabios in a tough game on the road 67-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cimarrones. Sabios made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sabios made 8 blocks. Canadian guard Shamar Coombs (185-86, college: Texas A&M-CC) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Barbados forward Kregg Jones (203-91, college: CSU Bakersfield) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Sabios' coach Ruddy Martinez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international point guard Rodrigo Caicedo (180-88) replied with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and the former international center John Hernandez (207-84) added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Cimarrones. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sabios moved-up to fourth place. Cimarrones at the other side keep the third position with seven games lost. Sabios are looking forward to face Piratas (#7) in Bogota in the next round. Cimarrones will play at home against the league's second-placed Academia (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
