Regular Season Round 18: Mackay M. - Cairns M. 103-85

Rather predictable result when first ranked Mackay Meteors (10-1) beat at home 4th ranked Cairns Marlins (8-4) 103-85 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Mackay Meteors. Cairns Marlins was better in second period 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mackay Meteors looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Cairns Marlins' players. The best player for the winners was guard Shaun Bruce (190-91) who scored 34 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international forward Lucas Walker (202-84, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Mackay Meteors players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Damon Heuir (191-91, college: S.Utah) who recorded 23 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Jarrad Weeks (185-89) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Cairns Marlins' coach rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Mackay Meteors maintains first position in League with 10-1 record. Loser Cairns Marlins keep the fourth place with four games lost. Mackay Meteors will face Sunshine CR (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
