Rather expected game in Cotton Tree where 14th ranked Toowoomba Mountaineers (1-10) were rolled over by twelfth ranked Maroochydore Clippers (3-6) 92-62 on Sunday. Maroochydore Clippers dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Toowoomba Mountaineers' 36. They outrebounded Toowoomba Mountaineers 57-40 including 42 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Breland Hogan (185, college: Grand Valley St.) who scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Matthew Kenyon (195-98) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Hogan is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Maroochydore Clippers players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Manylok Malek (201-94) who recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Jalil Abdul-Bassit (193, college: Oregon) added 23 points respectively. Toowoomba Mountaineers' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Maroochydore Clippers moved-up to tenth place in League. Loser Toowoomba Mountaineers keep the fourteenth position with ten games lost. Maroochydore Clippers will face higher ranked South West Metro Pirates (#6) in Runcorn in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Toowoomba Mountaineers will play at home against Gladstone Port City Power (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
