Regular Season Round 20: Piratas - Caciques 88-81

Another exciting game for Piratas (7-13) which hosted in Bogota against 4th ranked Caciques (8-10). Seventh ranked Piratas won 88-81. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Caciques' 38 and made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Caciques 52-30 including a 23-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Brandon Givens (198-87, college: NC-Wesleyan) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international power forward Jairo Mendoza (203-85, college: New Orleans) who added 22 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Givens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American point guard Horace Wormely (168-84, college: Vanguard) responded with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international forward Freddy Asprilla (208-88, college: Canisius) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Four Caciques players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Piratas maintains seventh position with 7-13 record. Caciques lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth place with ten games lost. Piratas will play against higher ranked Sabios (#4) in Manizales in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Caciques will play on the road against Condores in Cundinamarca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
