Regular Season Round 17: Dandenong R. - Hobart C. 53-61

There was a minor upset in Dandenong where second-ranked Rangers (11-6) were defeated by fifth ranked Hobart Chargers (8-9) 61-53 on Friday. Hobart Chargers outrebounded Rangers 49-38 including 18 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Mikaela Ruef (190-90, college: Stanford) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Alex Ciabattoni (183-94) chipped in 21 points and 8 rebounds. The former international center Lauren Scherf (195-96) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and guard Clare Papavs (180-87) added 14 points respectively for the hosts. Despite that victory Hobart Chargers went down to sixth position (League) due to points difference. Loser Rangers keep the second place with six games lost. Hobart Chargers will face higher ranked Nationals (#4) in Belconnen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rangers will play on the road against Ballarat Rush in Wendouree and hope to win that game.
