Regular Season Round 19: SW Slammers - Willetton T. 92-99

Very expected game when 7th ranked Slammers (12-8) lost to first ranked Tigers (19-3) in Bunbury 92-99 on Friday. Tigers made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Tigers had a 26-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. Slammers were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Jay Bowie (196-92, college: Marist) contributed with 32 points for the winners. Tigers' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (198-92, college: Vermont, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 17 rebounds and 8 assists and American guard Michael Lay (180-83, college: Concordia, OR) added 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Slammers. Five Slammers players scored in double figures. Tigers maintains first place in League with 19-3 record. Loser Slammers dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Tigers will face Redbacks (#7) in Northbridge in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Slammers will play at home against Stirling S. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
