Regular Season Round 6: Beijing - Luoyang 99-108

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Luoyang and 10th ranked Beijing had identical 2-3 record. But Beijing was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Luoyang 108-99 on Friday night. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 9 points. Beijing was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American point guard Russ Smith (183-91, college: Louisville) who had a double-double by scoring 46 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. Forward Wenhan Qiao (195-91) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Marquis Weddle (185-88, college: W.Virg.Wesl.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists and his fellow American import center Michael Holyfield (211-92, college: Sam Houston St.) added 19 points and 20 rebounds respectively. Four Luoyang and five Beijing players scored in double figures. Luoyang (3-3) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Anhui. Loser Beijing keeps the tenth position with four games lost. Luoyang will face higher ranked Hunan (#7) in Changsha in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Beijing will play on the road against Dongbu in Nanjin and hope to win that game.
