Regular Season Round 6: Fujian - Anhui 121-118

The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Fujian as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Fujian edged 5th ranked Anhui in Fuzhou 121-118. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Anhui. Anhui was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 29-25 charge of Fujian, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 Anhui turnovers. Strangely Anhui outrebounded Fujian 48-34 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Ivorian-French point guard Mouloukou-Souleyman Diabate (181-87) who scored 31 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 7 steals. American forward LaQuinton Ross (203-92, college: Ohio St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 12 rebounds. Fujian's coach Jiulong Liu used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American Chris Johnson (210-85, college: LSU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 23 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St.) added 38 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Four Fujian and five Anhui players scored in double figures. Fujian (5-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Anhui at the other side dropped to the eighth place with three games lost. They share the position with Luoyang. Anhui will play next round against Jiangsu L. trying to get back on the winning streak. Fujian will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Chongqing in Lanling.
