Regular Season Round 17: Canberra C. - Bendigo LB 76-59

There was a small surprise in Belconnen where fifth ranked Nationals (6-11) won against second-ranked Lady Braves (12-5) 76-59 on Saturday. Nationals dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Lady Braves' 24. The best player for the winners was American guard Sarah Mcappion (175-90, college: Troy) who scored 21 points and 5 assists. Forward Keely Froling (188-96, college: SMU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Five Nationals players scored in double figures. Forward Chloe Bibby (184-98) produced 19 points and Carlie Smith added 4 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Nationals moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Lady Braves keep the second position with five games lost. Nationals will face Hobart Chargers (#6) on the road in the next round. Lady Braves will play against the league's leader Geelong Supercats (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
