No shocking result in a game in Flinders Park where first ranked Mavericks (13-3) defeated 8th ranked Warriors (3-13) 89-81 on Saturday. Mavericks looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Alex Wilson (174-94) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. Rachael Hines chipped in 22 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Mavericks' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Ashley Claussen (168, college: S.Oregon) produced 31 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward Jennifer Monroe (180, college: Anderson, SC) added 11 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mavericks maintains first place in League with 13-3 record. Loser Warriors keep the eighth position with 13 games lost. Mavericks will face Panthers (#9) in Adelaide in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Warriors will play at home against Lions and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
