Very expected game in Gawler where 10th ranked Lions (1-15) were rolled over by sixth ranked Sabres (10-6) 97-43 on Saturday. Sabres dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Lions' 22 and made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Sabres forced 26 Lions turnovers and outrebounded them 45-25 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Lions' players. The best player for the winners was E Brett who scored 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Sarah Elsworthy chipped in 15 points. Four Sabres players scored in double figures. Casey Banwell produced 8 points and 4 assists and Rhianna Stringer added 9 points respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sabres moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Lions keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. Sabres will face higher ranked Flames (#4) in Marden in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lions will play on the road against Warriors (#8) in Flinders Park and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
