Regular Season Round 19: Perry Lakes H. - Kalamunda E.S. 97-76

Date: July 8, 2017
No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Hawks (10-11) crushed 13th ranked Suns (6-18) in Floreat 97-76 on Saturday. Hawks made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Hawks outrebounded Suns 42-26 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for guard Matthew Adekponya (194-90) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws). The former international forward Ben Purser (201-90, college: Augusta) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Hawks players scored in double figures. American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) answered with 25 points and 4 assists and the other American import guard Rob Brandenberg (188-92, college: VCU) added 9 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Suns. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hawks maintains eighth place in League with 10-11 record. Loser Suns keep the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. Hawks will face Giants (#12) in Kalgoorlie in the next round. Suns will play at home against Lightning and hope to win that game.
