Rather expected game when 11th ranked Eagles (7-16) were edged by ninth ranked Flames (9-13) in Morley 105-103 on Saturday. Flames forced 21 Eagles turnovers. Strangely Eagles outrebounded Flames 43-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Eagles were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for guard Dexter Kernich-Drew (201-91, college: Washington St.) who helped to win the game recording 38 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. American forward Donovon Jack (206-93, college: Penn St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Flames' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Mason Bragg (182-93) answered with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists and American center Kevin Davis (206-91, college: Cent.Washington) added 19 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Eagles. Four Flames and five Eagles players scored in double figures. Flames maintains ninth place in League with 9-13 record. Loser Eagles keep the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Flames will face higher ranked Hawks (#8) in Floreat in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Eagles will play on the road against Magic in Mandurah and hope to win that game.
