Regular Season Round 19: Maitland M. - Illawarra H. 99-82

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Hawks (5-12) lost on the road to sixth ranked Maitland Mustangs (10-7) 99-82 on Saturday. Maitland Mustangs dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Hawks' 54. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Tyler Monroe (201, college: Azusa Pacific) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds. Terrell Turner contributed with 22 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Maitland Mustangs' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Bailey OBrien answered with 19 points and Patrick Lancaster added 18 points in the effort for Hawks. Four Hawks players scored in double figures. Maitland Mustangs moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Hawks keep the ninth position with 12 games lost. Maitland Mustangs will face Newcastle Hunters (#11) in Broadmeadow in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Hawks will play at home against the league's leader Sydney City Comets and hope to win that game.
