Regular Season Round 19: McKinnon C. - Waverley F. 89-93

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Waverley Falcons (15-4) defeated on the road 7th ranked McKinnon C. (8-9) 93-89 on Saturday. Waverley Falcons forced 20 McKinnon C. turnovers. Strangely McKinnon C. outrebounded Waverley Falcons 53-32 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Desmond Simmons (198-92, college: St.Mary's, CA) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Chris Arkell (198-90) contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Waverley Falcons players scored in double figures. American forward Dillon Stith (200-92, college: St.Vincent) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 15 rebounds and naturalized Croatian forward Ivan Platenik (201-83, college: Alaska-Anch.) added 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for McKinnon C.Despite that victory Waverley Falcons went down to third position (League) due to points difference. Loser McKinnon C. keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Waverley Falcons will face Hume City Broncos (#10) in Tullamarine in the next round and are hoping to win another game. McKinnon C. will play at home against Whittlesea City and hope to win that game.
