We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Seaford where 7th ranked Sabres (5-11) were defeated by eighth ranked Frankston Blues (6-11) 78-71 on Saturday. Frankston Blues outrebounded Sabres 45-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Tenaya Phillips (178-94) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Power forward Carley Mijovic (196-94) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Frankston Blues' coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American swingman Jasmine Gill (185-90, college: JMU, agency: Two Points) produced 32 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Italian guard Nicole Romeo (168-89, college: Washington) added 16 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Frankston Blues moved-up to seventh place in League. Loser Sabres dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. Frankston Blues will face league's second-placed Lady Braves in Bendigo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sabres will play against Sydney Uni S. (#4) and hope to win that game.
