The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Cougars' (6-10) home victory over 10th ranked Diamond Valley Eagles (2-15) 94-85 on Sunday. Cougars forced 21 Diamond Valley Eagles turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Ariel Thomas (168, college: Oregon) who had a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Melanie Ioannidis chipped in 27 points. Four Cougars players scored in double figures. Forward Kate Oliver (193-91, college: USC) produced 26 points and 7 rebounds and Amelia Smith added 21 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Cougars maintains ninth place in League with 6-10 record. Loser Diamond Valley Eagles keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. Cougars will face higher ranked Boomers (#4) in Bulleen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Diamond Valley Eagles will play at home against Hawks (#6) and hope to win that game.
