Regular Season Round 17: Knox R. - Sunbury 69-68

Round 17 in State League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Wantirna South where host Knox Raiders (14-4) edged league's leader Sunbury (13-4) 69-68 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the top position in League. Knox Raiders forced 21 Sunbury turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard TaRea Cunnigan (175-93, college: San Jose St.) who scored 20 points. Forward Lucy Dawson (181-91) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Karen Duever produced 22 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Monique Stevens (160-91, college: NW Missouri St.) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Four Sunbury players scored in double figures. Knox Raiders keep a position of League leader. Newly promoted Sunbury dropped to the second place with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Knox R.. Sunbury will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Knox Raiders will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Venom on the road.
