Everything could happen in Tullamarine at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Hume City Broncos and 6th ranked Wildcats had identical 8-8 record. This time Hume City Broncos used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Eltham 92-76 on Sunday night. Hume City Broncos looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Colleen Planeta (188-88, college: Point Loma) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Her fellow American import center Erika Livermore (185-93, college: Fair Dickinson) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Four Hume City Broncos players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Alice Kunek (187-91) produced a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and guard Rebecca Cole (178-92) added 10 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Hume City Broncos (9-8) moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Wildcats dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Hume City Broncos will face higher ranked Falcons (#3) in Mount Waverley in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Wildcats will play against Sharks (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
