Regular Season Round 17: Lakeside L. - SW Slammers 111-66

Date: July 9, 2017
Not a big story in a game in Bullcreek where 9th ranked Slammers (6-13) were outplayed by third ranked Lightning (14-5) 111-66 on Sunday. Lightning looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Slammers' players. The best player for the winners was American forward Ali Schwagmeyer (180-90, college: Quincy) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Her fellow American import forward Sydnee Fipps (178, college: Cal-Davis) chipped in 27 points and 6 rebounds. Lightning's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Brittany Hodges (185-93, college: Furman) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and Georgia Denehey (-99) added 18 points and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Lightning maintains third place in League with 14-5 record having just one point less than leader Knox R. Loser Slammers keep the ninth position with 13 games lost. Lightning will face Suns (#10) in Kalamunda in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Slammers will play at home against Senators and hope to win that game.
