Regular Season Round 7: Hunan - Luoyang 107-111

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Hunan (4-3) lost to ninth ranked Luoyang (4-3) in Changsha 107-111 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hunan won fourth quarter 33-27. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hunan was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American point guard Russ Smith (183-91, college: Louisville) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 63 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. South Sudanese-Lebanese center Ater Majok (208-87, college: Connecticut) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 20 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Arinze Onuaku (206-87, college: Syracuse) answered with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 21 rebounds (on 16-of-19 shooting from the field) and Dominican guard Gelvis Solano (185-94, college: Merrimack, agency: Basket Management Solutions) added 26 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists and 5 steals (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) in the effort for Hunan. Five Hunan players scored in double figures. Hunan's coach Wenlong Huang tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Luoyang have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Hunan. Luoyang will face Guangxi (#5) on the road in the next round. Hunan will play against Beijing and hope to win that game.
