Regular Season Round 19: Lakeside L. - SW Slammers 93-106

Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Slammers (12-8) won against 10th ranked Lightning (8-15) in North Lake 106-93 on Sunday. Slammers made 29-of-38 free shots (76.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Lightning was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American guard Tre Nichols (180-89, college: Boise St., agency: SDJ Sports) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and 5 assists. American-Irish forward Brian Voelkel (198-92, college: Vermont, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) contributed with a triple-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. American forward James Padgett (203-91, college: Maryland) answered with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds and the other American import guard Devon Atkinson (185, college: Morehead St.) added 16 points and 9 assists in the effort for Lightning. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Slammers moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Lightning keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. Slammers will face higher ranked Stirling S. (#5) in Perth in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lightning will play at home against Giants (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
