The game in Bogota was also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Sabios (9-13) played at the court of seventh ranked Piratas (9-13). Piratas managed to secure a 6-point victory 89-83 on Sunday. Piratas forced 21 Sabios turnovers. American guard Brandon Givens (198-87, college: NC-Wesleyan) had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Jairo Mendoza (203-85, college: New Orleans) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Givens is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side Canadian guard Ashton Smith (187-89, college: Indiana, PA) responded with 32 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and forward John Velez (202-83, college: TCU) scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Piratas have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Sabios. Piratas will meet league's second-placed Academia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sabios will have a break next round.
