Regular Season Round 8: Henan - Lhasa 112-108

Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Lhasa (4-4) was defeated on the road by second ranked Henan (6-2) 112-108 on Wednesday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 14 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 4 points. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Henan made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) who scored 41 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). American-Nigerian center Chris Otule (211-90, college: Marquette) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points, 19 rebounds and 8 blocks. Five Henan players scored in double figures. American Dominique Johnson (192-87, college: Azusa Pacific, agency: Higher Vision Sports) produced 43 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Jinlong Chen added 24 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Henan have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Guizhou. Lhasa lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. They share the position with Chongqing and Luoyang. Henan will meet at home league's leader Guizhou in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lhasa will play against Luoyang (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
