Regular Season Round 23: Cimarrones - Aguilas 83-59
Date: July 14, 2017
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Cimarrones (12-7) crushed bottom-ranked Patriotas (5-18) in Quibdo-Choco 83-59 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Cimarrones. Patriotas managed to win third quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Patriotas to just 7 points in second quarter. Cimarrones forced 26 Patriotas turnovers and outrebounded them 50-37 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Venezuelan Jose Rodriguez (197-94) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. American swingman Amir Carraway (198-91, college: Chico St.) contributed with 27 points for the winners. American Karl Moore (203-87, college: Culver Stockton) answered with 23 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import swingman Robert Crawford (201-90, college: Cent.Arkansas) added 22 points in the effort for Patriotas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cimarrones have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 12-7 record having eight points less than leader Fast Break. Patriotas lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 18 games lost. Cimarrones are again looking forward to face bottom-ranked Patriotas (#8) in Boyaca in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Patriotas will have a break next round.
