Regular Season Round 20: Willetton T. - Perth R. 73-82

Date: July 14, 2017
Very important is a home loss of first ranked Tigers (19-4) against sixth ranked Redbacks (14-11) on Friday night. Host Tigers were defeated by Redbacks in a tough game in Willetton 73-82. Tigers were trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 22-8 charge of Redbacks, which allowed them to win the game. They made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Tigers were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Lee Roberts (201-87, college: Findlay, OH) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 9 rebounds and guard Marshall Nelson (188-94, college: Wayland Baptist) who added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Redbacks players scored in double figures. American forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Jay Bowie (196-92, college: Marist) scored 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Tigers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Redbacks moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Tigers still keep top position with four games lost. Redbacks will face Magic (#14) in Mandurah in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tigers will play at home against the league's second-placed Wanneroo (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
