The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Flames' (9-14) home loss to eighth ranked Hawks (12-11) 73-88 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Hawks. Flames was better in fourth quarter 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Brian Carlwell (211-87, college: San Diego St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Matthew Adekponya (194-90) who added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Hawks' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American forward Vincent Zollo (206-92, college: Cleveland St.) responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds and guard Dexter Kernich-Drew (201-91, college: Washington St.) scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hawks maintains eighth position in League with 12-11 record. Loser Flames dropped to the tenth place with 14 games lost. Hawks will face Lightning (#9) in North Lake in the next round. Flames will play at home against Suns and hope to win that game.
