There was no surprise when 5th ranked Cairns Marlins (8-5) were defeated at home by first ranked Mackay Meteors (12-2) 115-108 on Friday. Mackay Meteors made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Cairns Marlins were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Lucas Walker (202-84, college: St.Mary's, CA) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists and guard Shaun Bruce (190-91) who added 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Guard Kuany Kuany (201, college: Chaminade) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Jarrad Weeks (185-89) scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Five Mackay Meteors and four Cairns Marlins players scored in double figures. Cairns Marlins' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mackay Meteors maintains first position in League with 12-2 record. Loser Cairns Marlins keep the fifth place with five games lost. Mackay Meteors will face league's second-placed Brisbane Capitals at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cairns Marlins will play against Gladstone Port City Power and hope to win that game.
