A very interesting game took place in Montevideo. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 9th ranked Verdirrojo (3-6) to fifth ranked Cordon (6-3) 74-71 on Friday evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Verdirrojo helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by Brazilian center Dida Pereira (203-92, college: Sequoias CC) who scored that evening 18 points and 9 rebounds and Agustin Viotti (190-97) supported him with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Cordon players scored in double figures. Even 29 points and 5 rebounds by American guard Gerel Simmons (188-93, college: Lincoln Memorial) did not help to save the game for Verdirrojo. Forward Pablo Makanskas (196-90) added 8 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists. Cordon moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Miramar. Verdirrojo lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with six games lost. Cordon's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Capitol.
