The game between second ranked Academia (14-9) and 5th ranked Piratas (9-14) in Montana on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Academia outscored guests from Bogota 117-77. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Piratas. The game without a history. Academia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Piratas' 44. Academia forced 21 Piratas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Piratas' players. The former international point guard Simon Granados (182-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 8 assists. Canadian point guard Tyler Murray (195-90, college: Wagner) contributed with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Academia players scored in double figures. American guard Brandon Givens (198-87, college: NC-Wesleyan) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds and Neicer Lozano added 19 points in the effort for Piratas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains second place with 14-9 record having two points less than leader Fast Break. Piratas at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 14 games lost. Academia are again looking forward to face Piratas (#6) in Bogota in the next round. Piratas will have a break next round.
