Regular Season Round 24: Cimarrones - Aguilas 92-69
Date: July 15, 2017
Not a big story in a game in Quibdo-Choco where 8th ranked Patriotas (5-19) were rolled over by third ranked Cimarrones (13-7) 92-69 on Saturday. Cimarrones outrebounded Patriotas 51-38 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Patriotas' players. The best player for the winners was the former international swingman Eleutherio Renteria (194-81) who scored 31 points and 5 rebounds. The former international center John Hernandez (207-84) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 19 rebounds. Four Cimarrones players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Robert Crawford (201-90, college: Cent.Arkansas) who recorded 19 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized American guard Julio Velandia (188-90, college: Missouri Baptist) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cimarrones have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 13-7 record having ten points less than leader Fast Break. Patriotas lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 19 games lost. Cimarrones will meet at home Condores (#4) in the next round. Patriotas will play against Caciques (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
