Regular Season Round 20: NW Tasmania - Hobart C. 88-65

Date: July 15, 2017
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Ulverstone where second-ranked Chargers (11-8) were crushed by third ranked NW Tasmania Thunder (11-9) 88-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by NW Tasmania Thunder. Chargers was better in fourth quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jeremiah Ingram (201-93, college: N.C.Central) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds and guard Daniel Sepokas (190-90, college: Lees-McRae) who added 11 points during the contest. Naturalized South Sudanese swingman Mathiang Muo (196-87, college: Charleston So.) responded with 30 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and American swingman Robert Heyer (190, college: Boise St.) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Four Chargers players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. NW Tasmania Thunder maintains third position in League with 11-9 record behind leader Mackay M. Loser Chargers keep the second place with eight games lost. NW Tasmania Thunder will face Canberra Gunners (#7) in Belconnen in the next round. Chargers will play at home against Canberra Gunners (#7) and hope to win that game.
