Regular Season Round 24: Academia - Piratas 107-73

Second ranked Academia (15-9) crushed at home 6th ranked Piratas (9-15) by 34 points 107-73, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. Academia dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Piratas' 30. Academia had a 34-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Piratas' players. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Simon Granados (182-93) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 assists. The former international power forward Divier Perez (201-89) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. Five Academia players scored in double figures. Academia's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Brandon Givens (198-87, college: NC-Wesleyan) who recorded 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and point guard David Hernandez (172-96) added 16 points respectively. Defending champion maintains second position with 15-9 record having four points less than leader Fast Break. Piratas at the other side dropped to the fifth place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Sabios. Academia will meet Sabios (#6) in the next round. Piratas will play against the league's leader Fast Break and hope to secure a win.
