Not a big story in a game in Mount Waverley where 9th ranked Hume City Broncos (5-14) were rolled over by third ranked Waverley Falcons (16-4) 107-69 on Sunday. Waverley Falcons dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Hume City Broncos' 40. They outrebounded Hume City Broncos 58-19 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Waverley Falcons looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Hume City Broncos' players. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Desmond Simmons (198-92, college: St.Mary's, CA) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds (on 17-of-22 shooting from the field) and forward Chris Arkell (198-90) who added 25 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Naturalized British guard Lee Jeka (193-83) responded with 21 points and American guard Mike Rose (193-87, college: E.Kentucky) scored 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Waverley Falcons maintains third position in League with 16-4 record having just ten point less than leader Mackay M. Loser Hume City Broncos dropped to the tenth place with 14 games lost. Waverley Falcons will face Devils (#7) in Werribee in the next round. Hume City Broncos will play on the road against Magic in Hawthorn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
