Regular Season Round 10: Beijing - Guangxi 103-111

Rather expected game when 10th ranked Beijing (4-6) lost at home to eighth ranked Guangxi (6-4) 111-103 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 61-50 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Guangxi forced 19 Beijing turnovers. Strangely Beijing outrebounded Guangxi 65-39 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Guangxi made 12 blocks. American players dominated the game. Quite impressive performance for guard Kevin Murphy (196-90, college: Tenn Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 52 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Center Isaiah Austin (216-93, college: Baylor) contributed with a triple-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 11 blocks for the winners. Center Michael Holyfield (211-92, college: Sam Houston St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 34 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Marquis Weddle (185-88, college: W.Virg.Wesl.) added 21 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Beijing. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Beijing's coach ShuMin Gao gave the chance to play for eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Guangxi moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Beijing keeps the tenth position with six games lost. Guangxi will face Lhasa (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Beijing will play against Chongqing in Lanling and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
