Regular Season Round 10: Luoyang - Guizhou 109-105

The most important game in the last round took place in Luoyang between third ranked Guizhou (6-4) and ninth ranked Luoyang (6-4) on Sunday night. Guizhou was defeated by Luoyang in a tough game on the road 105-109. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Guizhou won third quarter 27-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Luoyang made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Luoyang made 14 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Russ Smith (183-91, college: Louisville) who helped to win the game recording 60 points (!!!), 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. South Sudanese-Lebanese center Ater Majok (208-87, college: Connecticut) contributed with a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocks for the winners. American point guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona, agency: Higher Vision Sports) replied with 41 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Central African-American power forward James Mays (206-86, college: Clemson) added 24 points and 17 rebounds in the effort for Guizhou. Four Guizhou players scored in double figures. Guizhou's coach Guodong Zhang tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Luoyang moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Guizhou. Luoyang is looking forward to face Fujian (#6) in Fuzhou in the next round. Guizhou will play at home against Hunan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
